Membership

Capital City Aviation is a membership flight club. Membership requires a one time fee of $150. This fee covers the administrative cost of signing up new members and fleet insurance. There is also a monthly fee of $35 for recurring costs such as rent, electric, and office staff. You may go inactive by notifying us, and return to active status by simply resuming payment of your monthly dues. There is no cancellation, or reactivation fees. All of our aircraft are rented with fuel or “wet” so you know up front how much the total cost is per hour. When you solo, you will be required to obtain the minimum coverage of non-owners renters insurance which will cover a $1000 deductible you would be responsible if something were to happen.  Since you need it for solo, you can wait to obtain this, and survey your options, as you will be covered when flying with a CCA approved flight instructor. This coverage should run you about $145 for the year.

The best way to become a member, schedule a tour or an intro flight, or to simply get more information would be to call our office at (614) 459-2541. From there we will set up a meeting to have you come out and see the club, and/or file your paperwork. If we do not answer, please be sure to leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as we may be out flying, or out of the office. You are allotted a few intro flights outside of membership if you’d like to check it out and see how you like the club, and we would be happy to show you around and let you see our aircraft. The application and pilot history forms needed for membership can be found in the ‘about us’ section of our website. There is also a list of documents on the pilot history form. If you bring everything applicable to you on that list to the meeting, we can be sure to quickly get the sign up out of the way and get you started flying!

Private Pilot Training

We have a wide selection of aircraft including Cessna and Cirrus Aircraft. Cirrus has laid out a training syllabus for aircraft transition that they have called The Cirrus Approach. We follow the Cirrus Approach for all of our pilot transitions, training, and ratings in the Cirrus aircraft. The reason we do this is to make an expert out of our club members in Cirrus aircraft, the Garmin Perspective G1000 avionics they use, and the proper way to use the Cirrus Aircraft Parachute System, or CAPS. Our instructors are $45 an hour, or $65 if you choose to follow the Cirrus Approach. You may choose to get your license in either the Cirrus, the Cessna’s, though it should be noted that the Cirrus are more expensive, and will increase your overall cost for Private Pilot Certification.
