About Us

Capital City Aviation is a nonprofit flight training and aircraft rental club whose primary mission is developing safe and proficient pilots in the highest quality rental fleet within Central Ohio. We offer Private Pilot Certificates, Instrument Ratings, Commercial Ratings, Certified Flight Instructor Ratings, Instrument Instructor Ratings, recurrent training, and more! We pride ourselves on tailoring flight training to your schedule and needs through a one on one member-instructor relationship.

Capital City Aviation has been selected by Cirrus Aircraft as the Cirrus Training Center in Central Ohio. As a Cirrus Training Center, Capital City Aviation follows the Cirrus Approach to flight training and transition. This means that our instructors and staff are experts in Cirrus Aircraft, and their operation. Our Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilots (CSIPs) and Training Center Instructors (TCIs) follow the same training programs that Cirrus uses during factory flight instruction. Capital City Aviation members can also join the Cirrus Learning Portal, which allows for online training and transition courses on your own time. In addition to Cirrus Aircraft, Capital City Aviation offers high quality Cessna and Beechcraft Aircraft that are available for flight training and rental. The Capital City Aviation fleet is equipped with modern avionics; allowing for advanced IFR operation, including WAAS, and superior situational awareness. A number of our aircraft are also equipped with ADS-B technology, providing traffic and weather surveillance capabilities.

Membership at Capital City Aviation

Membership requires a one-time fee of $250. This fee covers the administrative cost of signing up new members and induction into our fleet insurance. There is also a monthly fee of $45 for recurring costs such office staff, operations cost and more. All scheduling and maintenance records are contained in our online Flight Schedule Pro system. One is able to schedule available aircraft and flight instructors, as well as see maintenance information for the aircraft selected. You will be required to obtain the minimum coverage of non-owner’s rental insurance which will cover a $5000 deductible. This insurance is only required when you fly solo, or as Pilot in Command. This coverage should only run you between $140-$350 for the year depending on the coverage selected.
